“You just glue your boards together and expect them to hold?” This cry of disbelief from an end user during the construction of a shower partition made from “wedi building boards” is easy to understand. He would probably be even more shocked if he knew that adhesive is also used in the professional spa construction sector. However, professionals are well aware that using adhesive in damp rooms has not only been tried and tested over a long period of time, but it is also a method which provides an inseparable bond and seals in a single operation. A prerequisite is that an adhesive and sealing material is used that is tailor-made for the pre-fabricated building board systems in question.

The building board specialist wedi, for example, produces “Duporit” - its own adhesive and sealing material. It is made from a non-silicone ST polymer sealant which adheres to glass, aluminium, anodised aluminium, wood (painted and glazed), enamel, copper and hard PVC, without the need for a primer.

Previously, this proven adhesive and sealing material was only available in conjunction with the purchase of wedi components. However “Duporit” is now also being sold as a stand-alone product – with a new product and packaging design but with the same contents and the same quality.
