Approved sealing system
Sealing system wedi building boards and wedi Fundo now approved for all thicknesses of building boards
If you want to create a seal easily and simply, you can always rely on “wedi building boards”. Its properties make it waterproof and mean that it is approved as a sealing material in conjunction with tiles and slabs even in high-use areas. There is no other composite sealing element.
This general building code test certificate (abP) has now been extended: It now applies to all thicknesses of building board, to the floor-level shower element “wedi Fundo Primo” and in conjunction with “wedi system chemistry”.
Therefore, the “wedi building board wedi Fundo sealing system” may be used with “wedi system chemistry” to seal the structure in conjunction with tiling and slabs. This applies to
• Load class A (directly affected walls and floors in rooms in which tap or cleaning water is used very frequently or for long periods, such as swimming pool aprons and shower areas) and to
• Load class B (wall and floor surfaces of internal and external basins filled with drinking water).
The characteristics of the seal produced from the “wedi building boards wedi Fundo sealing system “are as follows:
• Keeps its shape
• Waterproof
• Impact resistant
• Resistant to caustic potash
• Adhesive strength
• Resistant to temperature and ageing
• Frost proof
• Waterproof when installed (up to 2.0 m)
This not only results in security for architects, designers and tradesmen but also saves time and therefore cost when carrying out the building work. There is no other composite seal as tiles and grouting are only water repellent and moisture resistant, not waterproof. It is possible to tile directly onto it.
The “wedi building board” is an extruded rigid polystyrene foam board reinforced with glass fibre on both sides and coated with a polymer-modified cement coating.
“wedi Fundo” is a flooring element made from this material - with a consistent gradient and pre-sealed drain - to produce floor-level showers.
“wedi building boards” form the basis for numerous application areas in interior and exterior construction, and they are primarily used in personalised bathroom architecture and the fashioning of wellness environments.
The test results are available at www.wedi.de or direct from wedi (Tel.: +49 2572 156-0).
