Swegon has taken over the Finnish Ventilation company Ilto Air Oy with subsidiary company Meptek Oy. The principle business is run at Meptek, which is market leading in Finland in the housing ventilation sector. The company has a turnover of 180 million SEK, has 65 employees and a factory in Kaarina near Turku in southwest Finland.
Swegon’s products are mainly used in public buildings, such as office buildings, shopping centres, hospitals, community centres and the like. Through this take over, Swegon is now broadening its product mix which will also include housing ventilation.
“Ventilation for multi-unit dwellings agrees well with the client and consultant contacts we already have. This take over therefore involves a pure broadening of Swegon’s product mix and this feels very satisfying”, says Swegon’s CEO Mats Holmquist.
The demand for housing ventilation is expected to be enormous for many years to come. Both in new building and refurbishment schemes, new and more stringent energy demands must be followed and this gives rise to a demand for advanced ventilation equipment. Moreover, tenants are making ever stricter demands on comfort, among other reasons, because more and more well-off families choose to live in an apartment.
Meptek’s production facilities and sales organisation in Finland will continue as before and will operate there under their own name. In other countries, Swegon will market Meptek products under Swegon’s name and will gradually introduce them on the other markets beginning in Sweden and Norway.
