Sunguard Glass Laminated Glass

Sunguard Glass Laminated Glass

Laminated glass consists of two or more lites that are permanently bonded by heat and pressure with one or more plastic interlayers of polyvinyl butyral (PVB). Both the glass and the interlayers can be supplied in a variety of colors and thicknesses to provide the desired appearance.

By code, laminated glass is considered “safety glass.” While it can be broken, fragments usually adhere to the plastic layers, reducing injury risks. If desired (or required), laminated glass can be further strengthened by manufacturing it with units of heat-strengthened or tempered glass.

Because of its strength and safety features, laminated glass is preferred when any of the following are required:

Hurricane and impact resistance
Protection against bombs or other explosions
Sound reduction
Protection against forced entry
Glass floors or stairs
Fallout protection of broken glass from building facades
Earthquake resistance
Protection from ”smash and grab” thefts from storefront window displays
Bullet resistance
