MENDINI COLLECTION - COLOUR RE-EVOLUTION

Sixteen new colours, for glass blocks as bright as precious stones

The multicoloured richness of precious stones - the intense red of ruby, the delicate violet of tourmaline, the deep yellow of violet topaz (…) - combined with the properties of brightness and transparency that are typical of the glass block.
From the effervescent mind of Studio Mendini and the production capacity of Seves glassblock comes the “Mendini Collection”, a new collection of glass blocks inspired by nature and conceived to enliven contemporary domestic landscapes with new shades and visual sensations.
After introducing colour into the history of the glass block for the first time in the early nineties with a range of 10 pastel colours, Seves glassblock renews its proposal by entrusting a full-blown project of polychromy to the “visionaries of colour in design”. “This is what is being done today with the Mendini Collection” - explain the designers. “The idea is to make a meticulously prepared, complete and joyful palette of coloured blocks available to design architects and interior designers, (…) making the possibilities of its aesthetic and expressive language more sophisticated and ample".
Sixteen proposals, from the most audacious and strong shades to black and white in various degrees of transparency, bring a new generation of construction elements for interiors with “lively” colours into being, thanks to special production technologies that keep the purity of the colour shades unchanged.
To present and showcase the new colours, the Pegasus glass block with wings has been selected in the 19x19x8cm format with smooth glass design and metallised finishing, characteristics that make the shades even more sharp, full and impactful.
“Sensuality, conceptuality, symbology, hedonism and emotion are parameters that the geometric language of the glass block had lacked until now (…)”.
The pieces in the Mendini Collection, on the other hand, stand out as “bright new presences in the space, like sapphires, topazes, ambers and rubies. And it is because of this rich fascination of nature that each colour in the new collection bears the expressive name of a precious stone”.

The presentation of the collection at Salone del Mobile, will be held in the suggestive frame of the new Seves glassblock showroom in Via Lodovico il Moro, which is itself the result of the colourful expressiveness of the Mendini brothers. Five hundred square metres in the tones of lilac for the creative and commercial outpost in Milan of the company, whose production facilities are located in Florence but who have production and commercial distribution sites all over the world.
Here, the coloured glass will become the leitmotif of a spectacular setting up signed by Atelier Mendini, which put together the bright blocks of the Mendini Collection with the eclectic modern chandeliers in Murano glass designed by Nigel Coates for AVMazzega.
