Designed to endow the city with a centre where people can gather to paitîcipate in cultural events, Romes Auditorium is a multifunctional complex entirely devoted to music. Sound plays the star role and the harmonic response of the environment must be able to enhance its vibrations, to amplify its intrinsic power. To this end, Renzo Piano was able to achieve a veritable breakthrough, by having music emerge not as a mere formal element, but rather as a spatial and structural experience.
