Valcucine has always focused on satisfying its customers’ requirements and has painstakingly researched into the use of traditional kitchens to this aim. This has resulted in the perfection of a few aspects that improve the interaction of Man with the whole kitchen “system”.

After having revolutionised ergonomics by presenting the Logica System in 1996, with its 80 cm depth and equipped back section, removable jumbo drawers and wall units with Ala and Aerius lift-up doors, and pursuant to the back-to-wall version, Valcucine is now presenting the new equipped back panel in the island version.

The back panel is capable of containing and concealing, when necessary, all the kitchen equipment: the dish-drainer, weighing scales, small appliances, removable cooking receptacles, bottle-racks, power sockets, a monitor, kitchen roll holders, the tap, hooks for utensils and even a cooker hood.

BOARD - a solution reflecting the new developments in the housing industry, which increasingly tends to offer compact environments and shared spaces without functional constraints - was presented in two versions: XS with arctic white high gloss lacquered doors and the typical 90 cm operating unit, and XL with smoke oak wooden doors and 120 cm operating unit.
The LUX project, with its bold character, displays rigorous lines coupled with evolved technical solutions, while the distinctive extractor hood offers - in the island version - the new floor extraction technology. The project was presented in the double matt lacquered coffee brown and linen beige version.
The two models stemming from the collaboration with designer Paolo Pininfarina, IDEA 40 and OLA 20, were presented as reissues of iconic projects of the Snaidero historical collection. They were greeted with widespread approval and enthusiasm denoting the fruitful collaboration that has been uniting Snaidero and Pininfarina Group for over 20 years.
IDEA 40 (a reissue of the model 40 years after the first edition), a charming combination of design, rationality and excellent materials, balanced forms and technology, was presented in the bi-colour high gloss metallic mineral grey and Nordic white version; while OLA 20, which has earned cult status among the Snaidero range, was offered with two new solutions: the stately worktop support made of the innovative carbon fibre material, and the graphite grey satin glass worktop.
The last model on display was WAY, reissued in an original version with matt micalized cement grey and smoke oak wooden doors, and worktop with Lapitec Porcelain Stoneware finish: an innovative material blending the potential of ceramic with the consistency, elegance and naturalness of typical natural stone colours to create a refined combination of aesthetics and ultra-high resistance. The scheme will start in June, when TfL will be able to charge utility companies up to £2,500 a day to dig up the busiest roads during peak times when road works cause the most disruption. This will incentivise utility firms to carry out their works more quickly and at times when roads are quieter.

Companies would be able to avoid the charges by carrying out works during less busy periods or, if appropriate, at night. In order to gather evidence on the effectiveness of lane rental, the Department for Transport has proposed that there should be up to three pioneer areas and is inviting applications from two more interested local authorities. Successful pioneer areas will need to have exhausted other options, including using a permit scheme and their lane rental schemes will have to be evaluated annually.

The guidance which accompanies the new powers makes it clear that lane rental charges must be avoidable and proportionate to the costs of congestion. Any revenue raised from the implementation of lane rental charges will have to be used to fund measures which could help to reduce future road works disruption. This could include infrastructure work, research or measures to improve the management of works.

The Fernco Pipe Doctor range is an ideal tool for minimising disruption during repair of underground drainage infrastructure - localised repair of any pipeline carrying non-potable water up to a 600mm diameter is possible without the need for excavation. Use of the system would mean these charges imposed by TfL would be brought to a minimum, or even eliminated.

The museum is a memorial place for the history of the German - German division with a special view on the time when the Iron Curtain divided Germany and especially the territory of Eichsfeld.

The rearrangement
During a complex rearrangement of the outside facilities a new visitor- and information center was built at the head quarter. Glass, stainless steel and concrete are the elements of the new architecture. HAVER & BOECKER supplied the wire mesh façade which is situated around the upper floor. The semitransparent wire mesh EGLA-TWIN 4313 should symbolize the border fence or also the whole borderline situation.

"The intention was to have a clear view out of the ground floor of the building, on the first floor, where exhibitions, information and talks about the region take place, you get a different picture. Thus, the whole border situation is characterized and can be experienced," said Mr. Thustek, a staff member of the museum, in an interview with the newspaper “Thüringer Allgemeine Zeitung”.

The wire mesh façade
To aim optical requirements, the horizontal corners of the wire mesh facade were folded at 90°, so that the impression of a homogenous building envelope could be guaranteed.
Beside the black painted words “Grenzlandmuseum” on two sides of the facade, the light coloring of the facade by night is a highlight, which creates a special atmosphere around the museum. The viewer could see many different facets at the illuminated wire mesh façade by night.

In addition to the strong symbolic power, which the architectural wire mesh got at this place, it works also as an effective sun protection. The stainless steel wire mesh type EGLA-TWIN 4313 breaks and filters the sunlight effectively and behind the screen it creates a comfortable fresh and light indoor climate.
