On September 13, Vor Frelsers Kirke (Our Saviour’s Church) in Copenhagen reopened. The reopening was celebrated with a ceremonious service.

Vor Frelsers Kirke closed in September 2006, precisely three years ago. The church has undergone an extensive restoration during which the entire historic inventory was restored. A new foundation has been laid and the floor has been replaced. The new floor consists of Dinesen Oak floorboards, up to 5 m long.

The wood for the floorboards comes from the Danish forests where the trees were planted in the beginning of the 19th century after the Danish navy was sunk by the English. The original plan was to use the trees to rebuild the navy. However, the oak trees were not ready until 200 years later. Therefore, the wood has earned the byname naval oak.

Dinesen has supplied a total of 1,200 m2 flooring for Vor Frelsers Kirke. The architects on the project are Fogh & Følner Arkitektfirma.
