Luxury Living Under Cupa Natural Slate - Cedar Park

In the beautiful countryside of County Mayo, Ireland, a short distance from Westport town centre, lies Cedar Park, a new development of detached, semi detached and terraced houses, commercial units and a crèche. Cedar Park is the ultimate in residential style. CUPA slate was chosen for its natural properties and beauty.

Local amenities to Cedar Park include, Golf Club, Tennis Club, Sailing club, shops and much more, making it the ideal luxury location. Westport, also boasts a number of tourist attractions, including the 18th century Westport House.

Austen and Michael Gibbons of Gibbons Developments explain why CUPA Natural Slate was the perfect choice, “Due to its exclusive location it was essential to design furniture and finish the development to the highest standard, using natural materials wherever possible. Working with our local merchant, Western Slate & Stone Ltd., we were able to achieve roof finishes in high quality natural slate from Cupa. Our merchant devised a programme where we used a different slate on each house type, this resulted in a variety in character, which complemented the other exterior materials and beautiful surroundings”.

Regularly specified for projects within conservation areas, heritage sites and areas of natural beauty, Cupa Heavy 3 was considered the ideal choice for Cedar Park. It is a distinctive blue-black slate with a riven surface. Split into thicknesses of between 7-10mm, Heavy 3 slate is exceptionally hardwearing, and is ideally suited to Atlantic climate.
Also used on the development was Cupa 5, a pale grey slate which is split to a thickness of 5mm, available in a variety of formats including square, rounded and rustic.
