Atlas Industries debuts the ad6 desk, intended as a companion piece to the studio’s existing as4 modular shelving/home storage/workspace system. Spare, refined, meticulously handcrafted of solid hardwoods and cold-rolled steel, the ad6 desk is distinguished by superb detailing, the finest materials and timeless design design.

A slender plane of solid wood -- in a choice of white oak, maple, walnut or cherry -- seems to float above a design pedestal base. The pedestal holds a file drawer and storage drawer with sliding interior tray. Desk support, leveling base and pulls are all of cold-rolled steel. The designers grind and blend the welds by hand, removing any trace of the joints, so the steel appears as one elegant, seamless whole. The desk comes in a standard size of 76.25” overall L (desktop is 72”L) x 28”D x 29.5”H; length of the desktop may be customized. Pedestal may be placed on either left or right; custom woods and finishes are available.

APPLICATIONS. Partners Joseph Fratesi and Thomas Wright note that the new desk expands the flexibility of their as4 modular system while maintaining a consistency of materials and detailing between the two. Both may be used together for a cohesive look. The as4 system and ad6 desk blend well with any environment, from traditional to modern, and are equally appropriate for residential and commercial settings.
