Architecture du Bois, a pioneer company for the design and construction of pedestrian wooden terraces and footbridges, has just announced new product innovation as a result of its innovation and research program.
After its widely acclaimed product JuAn® Clip, a breakthrough invisible fastening device, has won three prizes recently, the Niedermodern Company launches a new flooring section model called "Confort Stable".
The toughest enemy of wooden terraces is "cupping". This progressive distortion of the boards whereby the faces become concave or convex across the grain is due to differences in moisture content between board upper and bottom faces. Up to now, there was virtually no remedy for this problem.
However the last test campaign of Architecture du Bois Company showed the following results:
1- 22/120mm is the optimal thickness/width ratio for boards used in a terrace
2- A very slightly curved cross-section makes it possible to durably stop cupping extension.
This revolutionary design feature, hardly visible to the naked eye, makes also the product very comfortable to walk on. And other significant features are provided as well: rainwater runs out more easily, wood dries more quickly and moss no longer grows on it.
The company plans to manufacture this new product in three different woods: larch, autoclaved pine (new brown color), Yellow Birch (heat treatment) and Ipé of Brazil.
Used in association with JuAn® Clip fixing system, the "Confort Clip" section can probably be considered as “World Best Flooring Section”.
